I was always taught not to mix patterns. Who comes up with these ideals anyways? I have been experimenting with mixing colors and patterns. What I have learned is the sky is the limit.
Here is an example of two patterns that go together well. The small polka dots become a neutral and add visual interest to the pattern in the skirt.
